Seminar “Building a Thought Full World: Creativity + Love of Humanity” by Prof. Po-Shen Loh
In collaboration with the Faculty of Science, we were honoured to host Prof. Po-Shen Loh from Carnegie Mellon University on 6 March 2026 for his seminar “Building a Thought Full World: Creativity + Love of Humanity”.
Prof. Loh shared powerful insights into how AI and technology are reshaping human relationships, and why our future depends on nurturing both creativity and a genuine love for humanity. Prof. Loh shared the essence of entrepreneurship with us, explaining how he searches for problems to solve in each city that he visits. Drawing on his experience as a social entrepreneur, educator, and former National Coach of Team USA for the International Mathematical Olympiad, he illustrated how innovative ecosystems can align human and technological incentives for truly win-win outcomes.
It was especially inspiring to hear how he brings together professional actors, mathematicians, and Internet live‑streaming to reimagine education in the age of intelligent machines. His message challenged us to think deeply about how universities, educators, and students can respond proactively to a rapidly changing world.
A big thank you to Prof. Loh for visiting HKU and to all the seminar participants for joining the conversation. We look forward to more dialogues at the intersection of innovation, STEM, and humanity.
