The Master of Science in Innovation and Technology (MSc(I&T)) is a proposed one-year full-time taught postgraduate programme offered by the School of Innovation (I-School) at The University of Hong Kong. Building on the I-School’s mission to cultivate human-centered, interdisciplinary innovators, the MSc(I&T) is designed for STEM graduates and technically trained early-career professionals who aspire to lead innovation in technology-intensive organizations across the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the world.
Grounded in a broad understanding of how innovation happens — in established companies, emerging startups, research labs, and public institutions — the programme equips students to design, develop, and translate technology-based ideas into real-world impact. Students develop the ability to link technical insight with human needs, strategic opportunities, and societal responsibilities, gaining the capabilities needed to navigate an increasingly complex, AI-accelerated innovation landscape.
Recognizing that artificial intelligence is now a foundational tool for innovation, the programme treats AI as an essential competency. Students learn to integrate AI into research, design, prototyping, and decision-making processes, and to work effectively in human–AI collaborative environments. The programme thoughtfully incorporates the use of AI across courses, projects, and reflective practice — developing graduates who are fluent in both the possibilities and the responsible use of machine intelligence.
The MSc(I&T) is currently in development. We welcome feedback from prospective students, industry practitioners, and stakeholders to help refine the curriculum and learning experience.
